Patagonia & Antartica 2017

As we sailed towards Dorian Bay, we watched a large pod of Orcas.

Two structures were erected on the shores of Dorian Bay; the Argentine Refugio Bahia Dorian in 1957, and a larger building known as the Damoy Hut in 1975, where it served flights to and from a summer-use ice-strip for aircraft used before the sea-ice cleared near Rothera Base. The Damoy hut and ice-strip were closed in 1995: the building is now listed as an Historic Site and Monument and is maintained and administered by the United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust.

There were Gentoo Penguins and Weddell seals.

That evening we dropped off people who were camping on the ice for the night. We had intended joining them until we both got heavy colds and thought better off it.Baca lagi

On our last full day at sea, we rounded Cape Horn and there were hundreds of Alabtross feeding. On board there was a tour of the ship's engine room and that evening was the Captain's Dinner. There was also a celebration cake as it was OneOcean's 10th Anniversary.Baca lagi
