    Out of need to protect the water that fed the houses, a sustainable development organization was born. Farms were contaminating the water with their animal wastes and fertilizers. There are lots of things going on here, but one great example of an innovation is when they started using worms to turn the waste from the coffee process (parts of the coffee cherry) into natural fertilizer. Land was donated for expansion. Bio digesters were donated from Netherlands. The IMF has also offered some support. Hernan, the director, is speaking to the group about their activities. It was awarded an enormous honor in 2000 for being the best environmental project in the country.Read more
