    Starting with the Night Train

    November 8, 2018 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

After finishing work, I made a bee-line home, as I had to pack my things for a weekend in Innsbruck. I'd be going to meet up with Tobias, the receptionist from the MS Berlin Cruise I was on in late June that same year. As I didn't want to drive by car or fly down to Innsbruck, I had decided to travel by my very first night train. So my dad brought me to the main station at 11pm, and I searched for my sleeping wagon. It was a 4 bed one, but only one other bed was occupied. I was kinda glad about that, as I'm not particularly good with other people, especially not when it comes to sleeping with strangers in a sleeping wagon. But the woman was nice and stayed mostly for herself, so that I could feel comfortable pretty easy. I changed into my pyjamas in the toilet and went to bed. I honestly thought, it would be way more noise and shaking, but it was actually alright. Just the cold was making it difficult to fall and stay asleep. But in the end, the tiredness won anyway.Read more

  • Mountains everywhere

    November 9, 2018 in Austria ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

When waking up, the train had arrived in the Alps region. I've never been in the Alps before, so I couldn't tear my eyes off of that view. These mountains were so huge! It looked so ridiculous, making me feel so small. But I had no time to really appreciate the Alps, as we were arriving at Innsbruck. I packed my things in a hurry and jumped out of my last night's accommodation, into the arms of Tobi. He greeted me rather passionately, I haven't expected that much of him. He told me that his mother had sent him to shop for groceries, so we went into the next shop and got something called "Erdäpfelkäs", which basically is a cream from potatoes, used for sandwiches. I thought it to be hilarious, and laughed until we were standing at the cashier. After paying our groceries, we got into his car and he drove us home. This ride was visually so pleasing as we had to drive higher and higher. Innsbruck lays in a valley, and Tobi and his mother live at the top of one of the surrounding mountains. Everything is breathtaking. The height, the view, the pressure on my ears. But it's just beautiful, and I finally understood people who liked the mountains. I began to like them as well. We offloaded everything from our shopping, and I was greeted as a long-lost relative by Tobi's mother. Then I got a tour around their huge house and was stunned by the view they had over the Innsbruck valley. They had to be so rich to be able to afford this house! Anyway, I loved it. As Tobi had to help his stepdad with something around the house, I decided to have a stroll around the village and took some amazing photos. When I came back, dinner was ready, and we enjoyed the evening by watching Prison Break. When we didn't want to pay attention to the series, we paid attention to each other and released some tension.Read more

  • Skiing, WWII and forest vibes

    November 10, 2018 in Austria ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

The next morning, we drove to the Bergisel Schanze where the Winter Olympics took place. It's very hard imagining people doing such dangerous things voluntarily. But hey, everyone gets their adrenaline rush from something else. After we decided on never doing this ourselves, we drove back to the city centre of Innsbruck to visit a WWII museum. The whole day, Tobi and I acted just as friends, but suddenly, he decided to just kiss me, as if we were a couple. Tbh, I didn't like it that much. I liked him, but just as a flirt and a bit of fun. Nothing really romantic there, although I would have thought differently from myself. We finished our half-hearted tour around the museum and went to see the Ambras palace from the outside. Then, we made our way back to Tobi, as he wanted to show me his favourite place around the house. So, we took Tobi's dog Fritzi on a walk in the forest. When it got darker, we headed back home to be surprised by his mother. She had baked me Sachertorte! I was in love with this woman. I could take two pieces of cake with me on the train ride back home, which I thankfully did. And it was delicious.Read more
