We spent two and a half weeks in beautiful Dorset, looking after the cottage of Becky and Peter and their (rather large) flock of rescue animals 🧑‍🌾.

With three dogs, four cats, two donkeys, five sheep, two ducks and twelve chickens and roosters, most of our time was spent at home surrounded by our new friends. But with a cottage as beautiful as theirs (which even had a cosy reading room!), we really didn't mind :).

Our days started (too) early, usually around 5:30 am, when the old, blind dog would bark to wake us up because he needed to go outside. By 6 am, you could find us mucking out the stables, cleaning up impressive amounts of poo, and feeding the whole gang. By 8 am we were ready to start our day of teaching 💻 .

Despite the early starts and the (rather hard) work, we absolutely loved it. All the animals were incredibly sweet (well, almost all of them, Frank the aggressive rooster didn't like us at all). Reading or doing puzzles surrounded by animals and with beautiful views across the fields is hard to beat!

Even though it was hard to leave, we did venture out a few times :). We explored the cute little town of Wimborne Minster and made several trips to the spectacular Jurassic Coast 🦕. We walked near the iconic Old Harry Rocks and paddleboarded through Durdle Door, both on the beautiful Isle of Purbeck.

We already miss all the animals (and the reading room ...) and hope to come back here one day! Or should we start our own farm full of rescues?
