I haven't really found anything that truly interest me in Raleigh. I find out that there is a mall nearby that has an Apple store. I go and see if they can fix one of my iPods. They end up breaking them and find a replacement at the mall in Durham. I finally have a new iPod and look forward to putting music on it. I head back and go on the jog around lake Johnson. I do my fist 5k in 37 minutes. I head back to Shaun's house. We talk for a little bit and around 8 pm be states I need to leave because he feels we are not getting along. I leave without questioning, but find it is very strange. I message a bunch of people nearby in hoes of finding a new place to start for the night. About 30 minutes go by and Phil contacts me. I head to his house in Durham. I think this works out so much better. Phil is like the most adventurous grandpa that I never had. He welcomes me and insists that he shows me around that night, since I tell him I would only be staying for a day. We walked around downtown and he showed me part of Duke. It was great.Leia mais

  • Bull Durham

    21 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

The baseball field is kinda sweet here. It's open to the public when it's not being used and you have a few different options to watch the game, even if you don't have a ticket.

  • Bennett's Place

    21 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Phil showed me some of the history. We went to Bennett's Place, where the civil war was officially declared over. The two generals came together and made a treaty to stop the killing. Interesting place. I only got to hear a small part of the tour tho.Leia mais

  • Food

    21 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Phil is such a foodie. Everywhere we went her told me which restaurants had good meals. He took me me out for lunch with his friend Sophie and later dinner. Then he treated me to his homemade ice cream. I ate so good that day.Leia mais

  • Out for a boat ride

    22 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

I head out to Brad and Suzanne's house in Harker's Island. I found out about them because Ryan and Angie couchsurfed there and Phil hosted them in Durham. Then to see how cook couchsurfing is I find out that Brittain from Asheville will be staying there as well. Shortly after I get there we head out on the boat to an island that has wild horses. I didn't get to see any, but it was still very pretty.Leia mais

    23 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

I head out with Brittain and her family member, Gigi, to a day on the island. First we start at the beach. I get us great and free parking by chatting up a family that is renting a house on the beach.

  • Ferry time

    24 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I went out with Brad, Suzanne and Brittain to check out the a new island. This was my first time on a ferry that I can remember. Definitely the first time I ever took a car onto one.

  • Cape Lookout

    24 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

We got back from the island and I headed straight over to Cape Lookout to see the lighthouse. This is also the first lighthouse I can remember going to. I got a brief and distant look at wild horses and checked out this island.Leia mais

  • Charlottesville

    26 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

I checked out Mickee's Tavern and drive to Monticello, but I didn't do either tour. Monticello seemed interesting, but the tour was a bit much for me and they don't let you within eyesight of the house without paying.Leia mais

  • Seneca Cave

    27 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

I head out to West Virginia for the day. I learn that I truly do not enjoy switchbacks driving through the mountains. The cave was a cave. The tour guide was nice. I talked to them for a while and they also suggested hiking up Seneca Rock.Leia mais

  • Seneca Rocks

    27 de agosto de 2015, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

I hike up to the top of the mountain. Great views and very peaceful. That night I hang out with Ben's roommates, who are very nice people. It feels like living in the dorms. Very open door policy.
