We left the Alton Marina this morning with a herd of seven other boats and did two locks with them before we slowed to enjoy the ride thru St. Louis. There’s a EarthCam that points to the St. Louis Arch so I pulled a picture off of it… But we had to turn and do a second pass because our initial pass had us squarely in the railing on whatever platform the EarthCam was mounted on. This evening we are at anchor in a wing off Cliff Cave County Park. Moki and I went.. we did not see any caves but it’s a large park. Wings BTW are rock jetties designed to slow sand movement. The river is low enough that they are well above water and anchoring between them gets us out of the main river and out of the current which is pretty strong. Beyond that we’ve been pretty preoccupied keeping an eye on Milton. Hard watching from afar. Going down into the 40s tonight. 41 miles today.Read more
