    Just north of Kaskaskia River

We had another pleasant cruise today covering 41 miles after a quick stop for fuel. Between Hoppies Marina south of St. Louis where we filled up and Paducah Kentucky ~200 miles away there is no fuel available so this was an important stop. Tonight we are at anchor again. This time we found a really nice spot behind a small sand bar. The bar provides great protection from the main river and we are not feeling the passing barges at all. We are able to let Moki run on the sand bar which he really needs and the view is lovely… no industry in sight. Kashkashia River has lock right before it joins the Mississippi. Boaters are allowed to tie up on the lock wall. There are allot of boats there tonight but there’s no shore access. We are much happier at anchor!! Today’s secchi .4 in 2.4M.. pretty muddy river!Read more
