Smack Bayou on Tyndall AFB

Cold, Cold, Cold 🥶… with the wind it was a pretty miserable today! We did travel 23 miles and it wasn’t too bad but trips to shore… holy moly!! We were underway early as I had a meeting and Starlink didn’t like the trees in the Anchorage last night. It really wasn’t too bad crossing the open bays but wind picked up so our timing was good. Small craft advisory all day. Our Anchorage tonight is in Smack Bayou which is within the Tyndall Air Force Base. We have good protection but it’s still down right windy. Open view of the sky though so Starlink is happy. It’s like a sailboat graveyard in here. We count three up on shore. There may be others. There’s a small beach for Moki and I must say I am really happy our shore trips are complete. Paddling in the dark against the wind and in the cold is not my favorite sport. Back inside enjoying our Wallas diesel stove. It’s paid for itself many times over on this trip.Read more
