    chute lake

    taking days off after extensive job search, recruitment websites and riding around the lakes.
    testing the next parts of the KVR. mixed feelings, mixed trail.
    more sand and bumpy rocks as firm gravel thanks to all the cars and ATVs.. a trail does not become better with 4WD and ATVs on it.
    at least the lake and the views are still beautiful.    Read more

    arrived in paradise

    after some hard days, if not the hardest I ever had on my bike, I rolled out of the forest into this beautiful valley lakeside paradise. It's constant bliss just to look around and the bike ride was just jaw dropping.

    not planned for a stay. but unfortunately on my way to the outdoor and bike shop, my shift cable ripped right before the last hill. the only thing I don't have a spare for.
    luckily a nice farmer pulled over with his pickup and gave me a lift up the hill.
    rolling down to the bikeshop to get new cables just in time before closing.
    outdoor shop for a new sleepingbag has to wait ( only have 7°C limit quilt)
    no camping, only expensive rooms.. got the cheapest in a rundown house for 80CAD/55€.
    if u wanna be a tourist in Canada especially British Colombia ... bring money. tent spot at the official bc parks is around 30-50 CAD + non BC resident fee 20$ per book. so for a night with pit toilets in the forest it's 50 bugs.. come on.
    luckily most of the national parks are more in the north and I hope to get to hope ASAP. crown land and wildcamping should be possible in that direction after leaving Vancouver area.    Read more

    finish roadtrip

    after couple of rainy days we arrived in Calgary to enjoy our accomplishments.
    relaxing at a nice Airbnb, good food and drinks and a biketour along the river was all we need for a nice finish of the roadtrip.
    for them it's going back home to a comfortable place with all the amenities you cant find on a campsite.
    I fly back to Vancouver to start the bike ride on the TransCanadaTrail.    Read more

    Elfin lakes

    First 10km warmup hike to elfin Lakes and overnight in the shelter we booked ahead (every campground or shelters on the mountains are fully booked pretty much as soon as the booking opens, but so many no shows which is quite annoying if you can't do some hikes because it's "full" )
    First bear sighting from far distance with two small baby bears, Mountain panoramas all around and a refreshing lake at the end, made it a perfect hike.    Read more

    Start of my work and travel year in Canada. For the first 3 weeks I'm on a roadtrip with Alex and Philip through the Rockies to Calgary, but first have to store my bike with a newfound family member.
    Two days biking a bit of Vancouver and strolled around Gastown district and I have to say it baffled me more as expected. This city has everything I could ask of and probably more. A beautiful mixture of architecture in the skyline, sourounding panorama views wherever you look, mountains, beaches, parks, bicycle ways everywhere, nice bars, pubs and coffee houses and of course friendly Canadians.
