  • Dreamboat Hostel, Panajachel

    21 Januari 2022, Guatemala ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Our next stop is Panajachel. One guy from the Eagles Nest asked us why we are going there? Quote: This place has no soul 😅 We like the extremes so coming from a place which was super spiritual and conscious we went to Dreamboat Hostel. Right after we checked in we also got to know the welcome ritual and we instantly knew what kind of vibe is going to happen here 😁

We also found a really fancy coffee place called Cafe Loco👌

  • Metamorphosis Retreat, Bacalar

    2 Mac 2022, Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Over the last seven days I was on a retreat located at the beautiful laguna close to Bacalar. It was a wonderful experience learning more about Tantra, Breathwork and Water Therapy.

For some of the workshops I really needed to step out of my comfort zone but it was absolutely worth it. I have learned so much about consent, embodiment, life force energy and feeling an authentic connection to myself and to other people who I have just met a couple of days ago.Baca lagi

  • AirBnb Base, Quito

    6 Mac 2022, Ecuador ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Welcome to the highest capital city of the world: Quito, Ecuador (2850m). Which is by the way country number 9 on my trip and 40 on my list of countries I’ve visited so far 🎉

Coming from Mexico with +30 degree and having a hot climate over the past 10 month arriving in Quito was a little shock. 10 degree, rain and clouds 🥶

However this is going to be my base for the upcoming month. It’s really nice to have more space one in a while and a great view over the city.

  • Mitad del Mundo - Middle of the World!?

    11 Mac 2022, Ecuador ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Today my plan was to go to the middle of the world and jumping from one hemisphere to the other. Soon I figured out that this place isn’t actually the middle of the earth.

The placement of the equatorial line was defined throughout a expedition called the French Geodesic Mission in 1736. Years after that, it was brought to light that the "Geodesic Mission" had been wrong about the exact coordinates where the line passed through— the placement of the equator were incorrect by 240 metres 🤷‍♂️

I also saw a my second Halo 🤩, which is an optical phenomenon produced by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. The first one I saw last year when I was in Panama.

  • Quitsato Sundial

    11 Mac 2022, Ecuador

After figuring out that "Mitad del Mundo" isn’t actually the middle of the world I drove to the Quitsato Sundail. The Ecuadorian Military Geographic Institute has placed two cylinders surrounded by concrete on a platform on top of the Equatorial line, with a 1 mm error margin determined by using GPS and GNSS equipment. Well I would say this sounds way more accurate 🤓

Little funny side note. They have toilets for different body heights 😁. The left one is for people taller than 1.85m 👌

  • Cotopaxi - Refugio José Rivas

    20 Mac 2022, Ecuador ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

Despite the cloudy weather and basically no clear view on the vulcano I still decided to hike up to the Cotopaxi Refugio at 4864m. The altitude was pretty challenging but absolutely worth it. On the way down the view got a bit better but still very cloudy 🤷‍♂️Baca lagi

  • Islas Ballestas, Paracas & Pisco Tasting

    9 April 2022, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Today I decided to do a full day tour. First stop was at Paracas where we took a boat to Islas Ballestas which is full of sea lions, birds and penguins. All the islands are white and you might guess why 😅 yes it’s from the birds poo.

It was very fascinating to see the birds catching fish. Hundreds and thousands of birds a flying and then shooting straight into the ocean to catch the fish.

After the boat tour we drove to a local Pisco manufacturer in the city called Pisco 😎

  • San Pedro Hike to Chupani Ruins

    25 April 2022, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Karina, my lovely Airbnb host in Pisac 😊 invited me on a San Pedro hike today.

San Pedro is a cactus 🌵 and the traditions related to the use of the San Pedro cactus in Peru are dated back more than 3,000 years. It's a very powerful master plant and it goes straight to the heart and avoids the defenses of the mind and the resistance of the ego.

Hiking up a valley surrounded by mountains, exploring the ruins while imagining how it was back then, when people actually lived there was a beautiful experience. Probably also because of the effect of the San Pedro :-D this hike was really heart opening and I felt very connected to nature and my inner child.

  • Palcoyo - the better Rainbow Mountain?

    7 Mei 2022, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

This weekend I drove back to Cusco for a daytrip to Palcoyo. My original plan was to visit the famous Rainbow Mountain. However the road there is currently blocked because of a dispute of two communities owning that land.

So the alternative was to go to Palcoyo which is in the same area and to be honest I’m super happy that I went there because I did not only see one rainbow mountain but multiple. This place was magical and completely out of this world. The mountains, the colors and the whole landscape was incredible 🤩

  • Amantani Island Homestead

    20 Mei 2022, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Next stop is the island Amantani. If I remember correctly there are living around ten communities. In one of them I’m going to stay for the night. The host family was super nice and the food was also very delicious.

In the evening we hiked up to the highest place of the island to see the Pachamama temple and to watch the sunset. At night the local community arranged a little dance party for us 😀

  • Peru Taste Cooking Class

    25 Mei 2022, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

An activity I do at least one time in every country is a cooking class. Now that I have Rebecca joining me for the next three weeks the first thing we did was of course a cooking class 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Before the cooking class we went to the local market to buy some of the ingredients and got a very good introduction to the culture, fruits, vegetables and grains of Peru.

    1. Passionfruit Pisco Sour
    2. Ceviche
    3. Sous vide Alpaca on a bed of diffeent potatoes
    4. Fruit parfait
