fylkesvei 55 is a 248.1-kilometer-long highway which runs between the municipalities of lom and høyanger. it runs along lustrafjorden, over the sognefjellet pass and along glaciers. the 108-kilometer section across sognefjellet, known as sognefjellsvegen, is designated a "national tourist route". the road reaches the highest elevation on the public road network in norway, 1,434 meters and it is closed every winter. it is a wonderful road and the traffic is not problematic - sometimes we had to stop because of a truck in oncoming traffic but it's definitely worth it!Read more
