For some reason we are going in a pace to Santiago that is hard to keep up for most people. Even with my sprained and thick ankle I got two days ago we don't seem to have any problems crossing the hills here as we pass dozens of other pellegrinos every day.
What is called a full day stage is for us a morning hike and then we still have the whole afternoon for other things. So today we had a two hour lunch and then we decided to walk another 10k after finishing the normal stage. Just like yesterday when we did two complete stages. So I think we can easily say: Somos duros! 💪💪Baca lagi

Convento de San Antonio de Herbón

Today we took a little detour to the monastery of Herbón. And it was worth the time. We arrived there and everything was closed but when we rang the doorbell and asked if we could get a stamp for our credencial we were welcomed warmly. Also the walk towards the monastery was beautiful with a narrow bridge over a big river with waterfalls. Just stunning.Baca lagi

The last kilometers to Santiago

Early, early morning we left the albergue because of too many things that kept us awake all night and did the last 15k to Santiago... And unlike most other pellegrinos we did not straight go to the Cathedral but we went to the bus station for the early morning bus to Muxía. From there we will walk to Finisterre tomorrow for our last 30k of this journey.Baca lagi

Mercado de Abastos de Santiago

We bought marisco (navajas, centolla y zamburiñas) fresh at the market. In another stall on the market they cooked the seafood for us. And because this lady Monica was from Venezuela she didn't mind cooking the fresh pimientos de padrón as well for us. In another stall we bought the chilled albariño wine and so the delicious birthday meal could start on a bench at the market. Many especially pellegrinos that passed us were enviously looking at us on how we were enjoying our festive meal. Happy birthday!!Baca lagi

The Compostela

On Cley her birthday we went to the Cathedral to officially end our camino portugués. We collected our Compostela indicating we had fulfilled the requirements of the camino. And just enjoyed the rest of the day in Santiago. And as a ritual we went to the pelgrim's mass.
Tomorrow we go by train to Madrid before flying back on Saturday. It's been a good camino and Santiago de Compostela we hope to see soon again.Baca lagi
