• Cisterna di Latina

My great grandfather, Giulio Campoli, came from a small town to the southeast of Rome. First, I discovered that it is on the route to Naples directly from Rome and only about 30 min from Termini train station. Second, I discovered that the tickets were super cheap (especially since Eowyn is still half-price). Thirdly, I discovered that it's pronounced Chisterna di Latina (with the "ch" sound).

The ruins in the park at the center of town were closed off due to construction, but it was so fun to just wander around a bit and see a less touristy town, especially with our family connection. The train stop right before this one was "Campoleone", and I figure there must be a connection there as well.

The countryside out here was so beautiful - I couldn't capture it through the rather dirty train window but it's lovely!
