    One of the advantages of cruising in smaller ships is the ability to get into small remote ports the big cruise ships simply can’t use. This was the case visiting Puerto Chacabuco which gave us access to the small city of Coyhaique and the surrounding beautiful region.

    Inland, the landscape transitions toward glaciated valleys and the Northern Patagonian Icefield. Overall, the area around Puerto Chacabuco is a beautiful and remote, very rugged and distinctly Patagonian region defined by water, forests, and glacier shaped mountains.
