Day 8 Puente la Reina to Villatuerte

March 20 22.5 Kms - 14.1 miles Puenta la Reina to Villatuerte. Quick breakfast in the Hotel Jakue bar. Great coffee and tostada. We were on the road by 8:30. It was a good walk. We got to the village of Mañeru at 10:00. The church bells started ringing so we were able to attend mass. There was a tienda open and a Farmacia so several pilgrims stopped here to rest. We stopped to get compeed. The Albergue Maralox in Cirauqui had a sign up saying “open next season”. There were no bars until we got to Villatuerte where we were hoping to stay at Casa Mágica but they won’t open until March 29th. Instead we are staying at Casa Rural 643. Double room with our own bath for 45 euros. They offer a dinner for 15 euros and breakfast for 5 euros but the bar is right across the street so we will eat there. Ended up having one of my favorite meals chistorra, potatoes and a fried egg. Next few days call for rain. Not happy so we will try to leave early.Read more
