Cesky Krumlov Castle
3. Oktober 2015 in Tschechien ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C
Our second full day in Cesky was pretty much a fortress day. One of the main reasons for the heritage listing, the fortress is one of the oldest and best preserved in Europe. This good fortune isWeiterlesen
Prague
4. Oktober 2015 in Tschechien ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C
Another travel day to get from Cesky Krumlov to Prague. This time we took the bus - the 'Student Agency Bus' and in particular one of their 'fun buses'. Free wi-fi, video screens on the back of theWeiterlesen
Prague Castle
5. Oktober 2015 in Tschechien ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C
We tend to avoid tours, preferring to bumble along at our own pace and not getting bogged down with too much information that you are never going to remember anyway. Today's experience onlyWeiterlesen
Municipal House
6. Oktober 2015 in Tschechien ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C
The perfect antidote to a really crappy tour was a whole day just pottering about on our own. Dodging the crowds of people and just aimlessly and capriciously wandering.
Municipal house was reallyWeiterlesen
Little Venice?
7. Oktober 2015 in Tschechien ⋅ 🌧 14 °C
Last day in Prague was a bit grey and drizzly. Still lots to see and do. We wandered down towards the Charles Bridge looking for an area that was described as Prague's version of Venice, complete withWeiterlesen
Berlin
8. Oktober 2015 in Deutschland ⋅ 🌬 8 °C
Another wet travel day for the intrepid travellers. The trip was supposed to be about 4 and a half hours by train from Prague to Berlin. We got off to a bad start when I couldn't find the office toWeiterlesen
Museum Island
9. Oktober 2015 in Deutschland ⋅ 🌙 9 °C
After a rainy travel day and a rather wet arrival in Berlin we were a bit worried about the weather for our first full day in the capital of Germany. Being determined spirits we packed our umbrellasWeiterlesen
Schloss Sanssouci
10. Oktober 2015 in Deutschland ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C
How many ways are there to say palace - more than you might think. We had one of those perfect days that come along when you are travelling and the stars align. Having settled into Berlin on our firstWeiterlesen
Sunny Berlin
11. Oktober 2015 in Deutschland ⋅ 🌙 7 °C
It was a beautiful day for our last chance at Berlin. But the weather while gorgeous had a distinct bite to it - especially for a couple of Aussies from North of the border. We had a couple of museumsWeiterlesen
Amsterdam
12. Oktober 2015 in den Niederlanden ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C
Another big train trip today - Amsterdam to Bruges (Brugge) with two changes, one slightly harem scarem one in Antwerp, a huge station, which involved a fair hike up escalators and around corners andWeiterlesen
Riyks Museum
13. Oktober 2015 in den Niederlanden ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C
Day 2 in Amsterdam and we decided to break with our usual approach and purchase 'Amsterdam City Cards'. Most cities seem to have some variety of discount card or multiple entry card which will get youWeiterlesen
Het Scheepvaartmuseum
14. Oktober 2015 in den Niederlanden ⋅ 🌧 6 °C
The day was a bit grey and chilly so we mixed some exploring with some museums. And what museums they were. First we took in the Van Gogh Museum and it was a revelation. After so many art museumsWeiterlesen
Museum het Rembrandthuis
15. Oktober 2015 in den Niederlanden ⋅ 🌧 8 °C
Our last day in Amsterdam was a real hodge podge of poking around the old town centre and visiting a few of the places for which our city card provided access. One of the best was Rembrandt Haus whichWeiterlesen
Bruges
16. Oktober 2015 in Belgien ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C
Another train trip from Amsterdam to Brugge (Bruges) which went quite smoothly and the taxi ride to our BnB was quick and quite reasonable. Our hostess was very welcoming and had maps and informationWeiterlesen
Our Bruges Summerhouse
17. Oktober 2015 in Belgien ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C
We seem to have lost the sun for the moment, but Bruges has been more about poking around the backstreets and finding little surprises. We are staying in a 17th century summerhouse which we have allWeiterlesen
Brussels
18. Oktober 2015 in Belgien ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C
We only had a few hours to fill in here - Brussels was really only a stop between Bruges and Giverny. Our hotel was pretty basic, but it was walking distance from the train station and right in theWeiterlesen
Giverny
19. Oktober 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C
Our trip is winding down and today was a big travel day to get us from Brussels to Giverny for our day poking around Monet's old stomping ground and, in particular, his garden. It was to be a 5 stepWeiterlesen
Monet's Garden
20. Oktober 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C
The final day of our holiday in Europe. Tomorrow we head to the airport and Thursday we fly out on the long road home. But there could be no better place to charge up the batteries for all that liesWeiterlesen
