Sightseeing

We started the day at the local cafe. The Chicken Fried Stake and Eggs was huge and tasted great. I will even have part of it for breakfast tomorrow.
Then we loaded up the Jeep with camera, lunch and dog, and headed to the west to find the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. The highway went through Picture Rock Canyon, following the John Day River. The visitor center was outstanding! We learned a lot about the area. This area has about the densest collection of fossils found anywhere. Walking outside and looking across the canyon had an awesome view of the fossil rich mountains.Leggi altro
