Leaving the fairgrounds, we headed to the largest lake in North America, Lake Superior. We arrived at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park with a two day reservation in site 308. We decided to get a third night, but will have to move to site 310. We went to park in 308, but found it still occupied. Check out time in Minnesota State Parks is 4 pm. So we were able to move to site 114 which was open. It is up on the top of the hill with few trees. StarLink is working great! We checked out some hiking trails to the shoreline and got a view of the lighthouse. They light the lighthouse each year on November 10 in honor of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald made famous by Gordon Lightfoot. We went out to eat dinner and after getting fuel in the Jeep, Les headed back to the shoreline to catch the sunset light on the lighthouse.Read more
