Es ist Wochenende und Zeit für einen Tapetenwechsel: statt Berlin wird es dieses Wochenende Leipzig. Am Freitag geht es mit dem Zug los. Für Geschichtsbegeisterte ist die Stadt wahrlich ein must-see. Hier hat nicht bloss die Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig stattgefunden, sondern die Stadt war auch Ausgangspunkt der friedlichen Proteste, welche im Jahre 1989 die SED-Diktatur zu Fall brachte. Für ersteres empfielt sich ein Besuch beim Denkmal, für das zweite eine Stadtführung. Falls man bei dem Angebot doch mal noch eine Pause braucht (aber warum bitte) lockt Leipzig mit auffallend vielen Eisdielen und netten Cafés.

It's the weekend and time for a change of scenery: instead of Berlin, it's Leipzig this weekend. I leave by train on Friday. For history buffs, the city is truly a must-see. Not only did the Battle of the Nations take place here, but the city was also the starting point of the peaceful protests that brought down the SED dictatorship in 1989. For the former, a visit to the memorial is recommended, for the latter, a guided tour of the city. If you do need a break from all this (but why, please), Leipzig has a striking number of ice cream parlours and nice cafés.Baca lagi
