Wenn es nach dem berühmten Architekten Frank Gehry geht, zeichnet sich Arles durch seine antiken Überreste und die Landschaft der Provance aus. Diese beiden Elemente hat er, seiner Ansicht nach, im Gebäude, LUMA Arles zusammengefasst. Dieses ist ein weithin sichtbares Symbol für den örtlichen Kunst-Komplex, in dessen Zentrum das Gebäude steht. (Wer es nicht erraten hat: ja, Jannick ist wieder dabei) Wenn man sich das Gebäude anschaut, so soll der gläserne Zylinder das alte Amphitheater aus der Römerzeit, und die metallene Struktur die zerklüfteten Felsen der Region zeigen.
Im Innern des Gebäudes gibt es nicht bloss Ausstellungen, sondern auch einen Escape-Room, in dem wir glorreich scheitern, und eine lange Rutschbahn, die wir dafür zwei Mal (erfolgreich) absolvieren. Immerhin letzteres haben wir im Griff.
Mich spricht die Altstadt von Arles etwas mehr an, namentlich die römischen Überreste, welche ich ein anderes Mal besuchen werde. Das hat für euch den Vorteil, dass ich euch dafür mit der Stadtgeschichte kein Ohr abkaue. Im Zentrum sehen wir allerdings noch das Van Gogh - Museum, für das die Stadt bekannt ist.

According to the famous architect Frank Gehry, Arles is characterised by its ancient remains and the Provance landscape. In his opinion, he has combined these two elements in the LUMA Arles building. This is a highly visible symbol of the local art complex at the centre of which the building stands. (If you haven't guessed, yes, Jannick is at it again) When you look at the building, the glass cylinder is supposed to represent the old amphitheatre from Roman times, and the metal structure the jagged rocks of the region.
Inside the building there are not only exhibitions, but also an escape room, in which we fail gloriously, and a long slide, which we (successfully) complete twice. At least we managed the latter.
The old town of Arles appeals to me a little more, especially the Roman remains, which I will visit another time. This has the advantage for you that I don't have to chew your ear off with the history of the town. In the centre, however, we see the Van Gogh Museum, for which the city is famous.Read more
