Aix ist eine alte, keltische Gründung, die parallel zum nahegelegenen Marseille entstanden ist. Das hätte ich bestimmt erfahren, wenn ich nicht mal wieder beim Tourguide gespart hätte. Ich hätte bereits skeptisch werden sollen, als er den Bus ab dem TGV-Bahnhof nicht sofort finden konnte. Oder als er meine Fragen zur Geschichte der Stadt mit einem offenen "keine Ahnung" beantwortet hat. Dafür kennt er alle guten Bars, ist ein begeisterter Museumsgänger, kennt die Stadt wie seine Westentasche und ist Jannick, ein Freund von mir aus Zürich. Gerade letzteres lässt einem einiges verzeihen. 😉
Ich bekomme also eine Schnellbleiche zum Künstler Paul Cézanne, der in der Gegend tätig war. Da ich mich nicht als Banause outen wollte, konnte ich jedoch die eine Frage zu Cézannes Bilder nicht stellen: Wo liegt die Faszination des Berges Sainte-Victoire? Und wieso hat Cézanne ihn rund dreissig Mal gezeichnet?

Aix is an old, Celtic settlement that was formed at the same time as nearby Marseille. I would certainly have learnt this if I hadn't once again saved money on the tour guide. I should have been sceptical when he couldn't find the bus from the TGV station straight away. Or when he answered my questions about the history of the city with a frank "no idea". But he knows all the good bars, is an enthusiastic museum visitor, knows the city like the back of his hand and is Jannick, a friend of mine from Zurich. The latter in particular makes you forgive a lot 😉
