    March 22, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Here we go again, up at 6 to get everything sorted and hit the road at 9:30, picked up Lacey and 3 horses on the way past, had a good run stopped in at Officer inbound for a quick fuel and lunch stop, then through the tunnel and out on to the Hume with no problems, making good time heading north and got to Forges at 3:30 and met Anne Marie, unloaded all the horses and put them in there paddocks for the night.
Headed over to the shearing shed to catch up with Tup and Graham, they only had a couple of pens of sheep to crutch so we all got in a gave a hand, smashed out in no time.
Back to the home farm for tea and drinks on the veranda and a nice night chilling out into bed around 11.

  • Day 3 Myrtelford

    March 24, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Had a bit of rain overnight and a heavy thunderstorm, woke up to a very foggy morning after the rain, took a couple of hours to clear, went into town and had a look around and did some shopping, back to camp and cooked toasties on the bbq for lunch, the girls saddled up and went down to the arena to try and chop it up a bit to dry it out, after nearly 2 inches of rain earlier in the week and the rain yesterday it was very soggy, dug a few drains around the edge but think it will still be very wet.
Graham Forge arrived along with his sofa, Sas and Daniel next they all set up camp then it was time for a few bevies and tea, had the odd shower here and there, everyone just chilled out taking turns on the sofa and the bullshit flowed freely, Locky, Em and kids arrived at 10, after a bit of a ruckus unloading, Wendy yelled out to shut the music off 🤬🤬 so a bit more quiet partying and into bed around 11.

    March 25, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Woke up to a sunny morning, was all hands on deck for a 8:15 briefing and 8:30 start, we had a busy day with 24 runs over the day for all our teams, the arena was very heavy and hard work for the cattle, the morning went well with a couple of teams putting the 10 through in order, as the day went on the cattle started to knock up and the odd one went down, the powers that be tried a few different options but in the end the day was called short and would resume tomorrow, so it was an opportunity to have an early afternoon drink and get together with all the team members, Tup and Lacey had been busy and prepared tea, Steve was hard at work on the bbq and fed the whole gang.
More drinks and lots of laughs with everyone, music off at 10 and into bed around 11.

    March 26, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

The committee last night decided that the grounds and cattle where not up to the task of another day so the remaining rounds from yesterday will be run and that’s it, there was about 25 runs and Snake, Bron, Kristy got another 10 threw and were looking good for a win but Barry Owen and his team did the same in a better time, all was done by 10:30 and presentation was at 11 and no surprise our team of Snake, Bron, Kristy ended up with second place a great effort, Barry’s Team took out first, a decision was made to move on as rainy weather was on the way so we packed up and hit the road around 1 and made our way to Tallangatta, was a very scenic drive and took about an hour to arrive at the Showgrounds, took a bit to find a good spot near the amenities block, set up camp and tried to get pizza from the wood fired truck but they were sold out so we made steak sanga’s tea and had a few quiet drinks and into bed around 10:30 still warm.Read more

  • Day 10 Tallangatta

    March 31, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

First day of competition today, cloudy morning with a fresh breeze, the girls looked awesome in their get up, the arena was still wet but had good grip, the cattle came from feedlots and where pretty feral, lots of jumping into the panels and fair few teams got cracked off for no fault of their own, all our teams had a tuff day with only 1’s and 2’s getting penned, the trend continued on with the cattle all day, sat and watched most of the day, there was only handful of teams penning 3 some in good time others right on the buzzer.
Was a lot of talk back at camp about the cattle over a few drinks, a lot of our crew headed off to the pub for tea, we just cranked up the fire pots had leftovers for tea and was in bed by 11.

Day 2 of competition and a beautiful morning with a slight breeze, everyone was saddled up for another day of fun, the cattle were still the same and it was hard work for all but we had a couple of our teams pen 3 for the day, a great effort, during the afternoon we had a beast clear the fence and run off, a few riders rounded him up and got it back in and it jumped out again straight away, fun and games, watched most of the runs again and there was not many who penned 9 over the 2 days of the competition.
The day was done and all of our teams had done well but no one got all 9, tea was over at the sheds tonight and was a great feed and then it was time for presentations, to no surprise the girls took out best presented for the weekend and then Bron, Snake, Kristy got 8th place with 7 cattle a big surprise for a finals run tomorrow, only one team penned 9 for the top spot, back to camp for drinks around the fire, lots of fun and antics, into bed around midnight, a great effort from all our teams, good luck for our team in tomorrows finals.
