Got up this morning to a slight frost very chilly, as we have no plan we decided to have a lazy day in Mildura did some shopping, very good shopping lots to look at in town and stocked up on supplies as we are going to head off in to the outback where the shopping is very limited. Lots in the van park, most of them stopping here for a bit and then doing the grey nomad exodus to the top end. Lots of paddle steamers up and down the river, would be a very busy place in the summer months.Read more
Left Mildura at 9:30, stopped at Wentworth for fresh bread and then headed up the high darling Road to Pooncarie, then stopped for lunch up the road at Murley Cooley Point on the Darling river, was going to stop here overnight, but there was an engine driven pump running and lots of bindis so we decided to move on and arrived at the Menindee lakes at 3:30.

Chilled out for the day on the banks of the Menindee lakes, what a great spot to spend a couple of days, very peaceful and not overcrowded, took a walk up to the spill way in the morning which was about 1 km from our camp, there is a toilet block located down there and lots of great spots to camp along the walk.
Teresa spent the avo playing solitaire and cooking tea and I took the rc trophy truck for a spin in the sand,

Off to Tibooburra via packsaddle roadhouse, stopped here for lunch in the van and went over to the roadhouse for an ice cream. Hanging out here for the day, caught up the washing and gave the car and van the once over before we head further into the outback.
Took a walk down town, has been a lot of work to the pubs and buildings in general town area since we were here last everything looks good, very neat and tidy.
There are 2 pubs in town we went to the Tibooburra Hotel for drinks and dinner, had a chat to a few of the guys driving in the flying doc bash and dinner with a couple who are broadacre grain growers from Forbes, meal was great a good night overall.Read more
Left Tibooburra at 9am up the silver city highway to noccundra, arrived at 1 and setup camp on the banks of the Wilson river. The pub is just across the road 200mt's and it has public toilets and a $1 donation to use the shower. The road was all dirt with lots of stone, very hard on everything, stopped at the warri gate at the qld border and deflated the tyres.
Off to the pub for tea and a few drinks tonight, no mobile reception here, pulled up a seat at the bar with a few grey nomads chatting about travels and cruiser utes. Had a home cooked style meal in the dining room on the one long table with 6 others, very interesting dinner conversations, a great night in the end.Read more
Another great day in the outback, left Noccundra at around 9 bitumen all the way to Eromanga, stopped for a look around and at the dump point we ran into a couple of people we had dinner with last night, chatted for a while with a fella who was first married at 69 and now 78 and he is happy as ever travelling around the country with his wife. Eromanga doesn't look that inviting to camp the night so we will move on and take a short cut to the Quilpie Windorah Road, road was mapped as dirt but was bitumen all the way. Decided to head out to Windorah to refuel got in at around 3 as per usual the van park was very full. Headed down the pub for a drink in the avo and then cooked dinner on the baby q, weather getting more mild as we head north.Read more
Hanging out in Windorah for the day, took a walk down the street and went into the info centre and grabbed a few things, there is a new caravan park being built across the road from the old one to cater for the growing grey nomad population. Town is looking very neat and tidy good place to spend a few days, down to the pub again for a drink, met an old mate from Raymond Island who was having battery dramas in his Colorado, told him he should of brought a Cruiser, back to the van for more drinks and dinner.Read more
