Day 6 Sat S’mores and Bunnies!
May 28, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C
Another pretty much lay over day of not a lot happening…..Tim took us to the Kitchener Markets first up….wow, wow, wow great fresh produce….I bought the hugest bunch of asparagus for $2.00 it was at least 5 times the amount you would get at home from the supermarket….Fresh eggplants 🍆 , tomatoes 🍅, cheesecakes slices, fresh Ham, Tim bought fresh salmon 🍣 and fresh Trout, cheeses, olives 🫒…..breads, croissants 🥐…… we had a ball just checking out all the great produce….Even got to see my first Mennonite ladies with their lovely bonnets…..Tim and Jess had explained there was a large community of Mennonites in the area and they sell many of their wonderful fresh produce at the local markets….
For those of you not sure what Mennonites are below is a Wikipedia explanation…..
(Mennonites are a religious-cultural group established in the 16th century during the Protestant Reformation when some Christians separated from the Roman Catholic Church. Mennonites date their separate Christian identity to the Anabaptist movement of the early 16th-century Reformation. Anabaptist (literally "rebaptizers") and Mennonite ordinances differ from other Christian denominations in that baptism is a choice made by mature voluntary believers (not infants); the communion service sometimes includes foot washing as a symbol of humility and service.)
From here we had to go home and drop off our goodies…have a quick cuppa then head off to get Our Hire Car….John had booked a Chevalier Colorado….a Mini Ram he thought but looks just like our Car…..I really would have preferred a station wagon type car …..but this was 1/2 the price of any other type of car….so it is what it is….but it’s big and guess I will get to see things better up higher than a smaller car….it’s white like our car also…so doesn’t feel much different really….
The girl at the Hire place was a bit sharp….saying she was technically closed at 12md be our instructions were to pick up then…..my goodness she was in a hurry others came in while we were their and she didn’t give them the same lecture ….also she tells us it has to come back before 30 days are up, because they aren’t a leasing company they can only hire a maximum of 30 days….in 30 days we will be on the other side of the country….no one told us that either… as she was going over the Ute with John she then tells him it can be taken to any of their agents in the country to re organise the next 30 days….the issue is our hire of it was for over 60 days something like 65 days so good on them for not telling us this info before we hired it….just have to see how this plays out I guess….
I drove back with Tim 🤔😂 I wasn’t game to go with John on his maiden voyage back home….I have been all over the world with him driving on the left hand side of the road….but those first few times out are always hairy until he gets his mind in the right mode fir left driving…🥱😳!
I spent 2 hours downloading all my pictures to date….I stupidly on the last lot of trips have allowed my iPhone to build up as it has so much memory….but then it takes up to a full day to sort them and catalogue them as I do in days and date….it’s a night mare especially when I do the ones through Instagram to FB…… the date taken is different than the date redone for display and it does my head in trying to figure our dates and days to file them correctly…I make it difficult myself but it’s the best way to do it….However I realised after a near break down of filing pics from weeks at a time I have to start downloading them only 5-7 days max…even that is too long….when my original iPhone had only 16g of space I had to download everyday so I could have enough space on my phone to take more pics….as much as I complained it actually made my filing system easier….with my Big Camera it’s easier as nothing changes on its date and I can just go to date cut and paste into my file system…..I know it sounds complicated and I don’t know anyone else who does it like I do …..must be a bit OCD with my filing but it works well and I am doing something with say a diary 📔 it’s easier to look up dates….anyway I’ll confuse you all if I continue explaining and I am confused enough 😂😂😂😂!
We shared getting dinner I helped revamp the potato dish from last night to a warm potato salad …it turned out yummy….lots of shallots, boiled eggs, garlic, bacon and a mix of mayo, yogurt and mustard yummmm….
Once we finished dinner at 7.30 pm we were off to Tim’s old Bosses place Bob to basically say farewell to him as he and his family are off on holidays…Tim may get to see him before he goes, or maybe not, but it was lovely of them to invite us over….with a fire in their back yard we sat around with Lisa his wife and Isobel his daughter, having the choice of too many drinks and got to try S’mores….it’s Hot 🔥 cooked Marshmallows with chocolate 🍫 set between 2 biscuits 🍪 plain wheaten type biscuits….apparently very Canadian thing to do at a fire 🔥 place….
We had a lovely evening hearing about their lives here and their daughter Isobel’s adventure to the The Artic Circle ⭕️ on an exchange she has done a few years in a row….what an adventure that as for her…..
Jess had given Bob a bottle of Shiraz Gin she was presented with after she designed the Label got the Gin company in Aust! She had wanted to say thanks for all the support Bob has given to Tim while working at Goggle! He was tickled pink with the thought!
Plus Lisa has 2 of the cutest bunnies 🐰 she has living indoors you have ever seen….so soft and cuddly…..we had a great night and by 10 we had to get home, as we are heading away for the next 3 days to an Airbnb at Tobermory to do some bush hiking 🥾 finally get to try out my new boots….
I guess the day wasn’t really a layover day….we actually filled it quite well….Read more

TravelerCurious to know if Jess’s design was for Larks Shiraz Gin. We bought some when we were in Tassie and I loved the bottle
Rell01No it was a Victorian company called 4Pillars 😋
