    Miltenberg, Germany

    July 17, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Another authentic medieval town. These places must be beautiful in winter with snow...

Richard n Sheila TravelsPart of the old city wall in the background. The arched alcoves were prisons for women thought to be witches, held there awaiting "trial". They'd have been shaven, naked and starved. 168 witches were executed in Miltenberg between 1626 and 1629.

Richard n Sheila TravelsApparently, a witches house from the 1600's, this wee cottage is owned by Barbara, an 84 local lady who tends the garden daily. Two rooms...on the right for the animals, on the left for the owner, each no bigger than 2.5m x 2.5m I'd say...
