    Wouldn't hv thought this city wld be of interest but Beethoven was born here and the steps of the Rasthaus (city hall) had the honour of JFK and the disolution of the USSR was announced here by Gorbachev in 1991. Also the square has the dubious honor of being the place where Hitler ordered thousands of books of great literature burned here.Leggi altro

    Richard n Sheila TravelsHitler set fire to a huge pile of books right here in the square, in front of those steps you see going left and right. There are memorial paving stones on the ground with book symbols, "standing up to the tyranny".
