    Crooked Buldings

    July 21, 2016 in the Netherlands ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Surprising how many buildings in old Amsterdam are not parallel and vertical. Seems there are many built on wooden piles in the 1600s & 1700s that are sinking slowly over time. Water table is high of course, being the Netherlands. Don't know if the floors are on a slope inside but any walls that don't look vertical in the pics are just that ... leaning. Leans can be left, right, forward or backward, or any combination thereof!Read more

Richard n Sheila TravelsWhite building in center leans forward and right. Same with the building two to the right with the stepped facade.
