• Safari Tour into a Caldera

    August 10, 2021 in Cook Islands ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We took a Safari tour today which is how we saw the other footprints, too ... our tour guide was a hoot, but knowledgeable and entertaining. The cross country part of the tour meant holding onto rails as our jeep bounced and climbed ever steeper tracks and paths until we burst out onto the top of a grassy ridge where we can see we are in the centre of a huge volcano caldera. Maybe 3km wide at the top...? Luckily there's a telephone tree for those who need to call home. Some old volcanic plus remain, notably "the needle" kindly left for photo ops. Great views out to sea.Read more
