    7am departure from Pōhara dock with Captain Leigh ... just about sunrise. Fantastic day out on the briny catching snapper, terakihi, blue cod, gurnard, leatherjacket, wrasse, mackerel and a barracuda Nicely fileted by Capt Leigh and we brought home bags of fresh fish. Lucky there is room in the caravan freezer!
    Catching our fill early left time to call in to some historic coast ... like Murderers Bay where Able Tasman first set foot on NZ land about 1642 - the first known European to touch NZ soil. He engaged with local Māori but not a great accomplishment, with deaths of both sides. Also stopped right adjacent to where a Pā had been in what is now Abel Tasman Park.
    Back at the dock, some large stingrays came looking for a few morsels.
