Day 51c Maesteg

Stopped beside a barn where a family of 4 had just finished bailing hay. I asked if I could have any water. They only had troughs fed by rain water from the roof which did not look very heathy. We chatted for a few minutes then I continued on my hike. 150 yards further on I met hikers Norman and Phil walking some of the Cambrian Way in the opposite direction to me. While we were chatting, the farm wife walked up and offered to take my water bottles to her nearby home to refill. When she returned, not only had she filled all 3 bottles, but had also brought a couple of lunchtime snackable biscuits. The kindness of strangers.Read more
