    Hello, Hola, Bonjour, Buenas Dias - we are up early! Today is the day we plan to arrive in Santiago de Compostella and to the Cathedral of Saint James so the excitement and anticipation are at a fever pitch! Similar to the last time I was on this pilgrimage, it was difficult to sleep the final night- we knew we had much to see and miles to go. Our sweet little pension farmhouse was comfy (we four had the only single room as opposed to the large dorms!) but it was time! Very quickly we passed the Satuaria da Virxe da Escrivatude with it’s flat front edifice and statuesque double bell towers which wasn’t open yet and then rapidly we came upon the church of San Xoán do Raio wrapped in flowering azaleas but also not open. I’m sad when a church is closed- I want to see them all! I imagine the people who were responsible for building these holy places and filling them with beautiful carvings and sacred art and I’m sure they would be sad too if they saw these doors closed- churches should be open! It was cold this morning so we’re bundled up although we expect another sunny day. I’ve felt so privileged to have enjoyed this Camino with its bluebird skies and bright sunshine.
