  • Made it to Aberdeen

    October 1, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

I made it safe and sounded to Aberdeen scotland. The hotel is amazing. It was the original Station House for Union Square in Aberdeen. I topped the day off with a traditional chicken sandwich, names of cluck Norris. (In honor of Mila. Her favorite while she was in Europe) And a very nice pilsner called Lost. I'm going to go back to the room, take a shower, and get some much needed rest. Tomorrow starts on Scottish rails at 10:00 to go to Inverness to start my tour at Loch Ness.Read more

  • Searching for Loch Ness Monster

    October 2, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ 🌧 63 °F

I made it to Inverness around 1:30 pm. I had a traditional lunch of cheese and tomato sandwich. I was able to get in my room around 2:30 p.m. I took a shower, then went to a meet and greet. At 7:00, I had a delightful dinner of Scottish beef and had a Loch Ness monster expert give us a very interesting lecture. I had my first experience with Scotch. I am happy to say I live to the story. 🤣Read more

I'm starting Day 2. I'm really not sure what we're going to do, but that is amazing. Updates to follow. CheersRead more

  • Off to Hogwarts.

    October 3, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 50 °F

After breakfast, we got on a bus and drove to Mallaig so we could ride the Jacobite train to Fort Williams. A storm has come in, so it was a little chilly and wet. However, for the most part, we were on a bus or a train. We did get to travel across the Harry Potter Bridge. But where was unable to get out and take photos due to the weather.

I'm going to get ready to go to dinner, so talk to you tomorrow.

So I went walking around and accidentally got this tattoo. Lol Then came back to the hotel and had beers with the girls all afternoon. It's really not much different than being at home.

Now, I am finishing the day with a fresh beer and macaroni cheese. I hope that tomorrow will be better weather.

  • Last day in the Highlands

    October 5, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ 🌬 50 °F

On the last day in the highlands, we took a short mountain train in Aviemore. Then I enjoyed a lovely lunch of roast beef and toffee sticky pudding at the hotel in Aviemore.

For those who are wondering what's under a scottish kilt, I call him fergus.

Then we went to the Culloden Battlefields for a very chilly one hour tour. And then to the cultural center for cup of cappuccino and
    some delicious nutilla buns.

We ended our night with a final banquet. And said are goodbyes.

Tomorrow, I'm off to Edinburgh for 3 days before my tour in York.

  • Good bye Scotland

    October 9, 2025 in England ⋅ ⛅ 55 °F

Goodbye, my dear sweet Scotland. Off to England.
My breakfast was avocado bagel with feta.
I took the train from Edinburgh to Harrogate. I had to change trains in York. I had 4 minutes across the complex down the stairs and the backup on the other side. There was no elevator, so I had to lag the suitcases down and up again. Made the train by seconds. 😵‍💫

At Harrogate, the hotel is beautiful, and my room is lovely. I had a beer to reward myself for making it in one piece.

  • Last day in Harrogate.

    October 11, 2025 in England ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

We started out our day with a coach ride to Whitby Abbey. I can't even describe in words the beauty of this site. I hope these photos give you some idea.

Afterward we went down to the village for about three hours of free time and lunch. I, of course, found a pub and had a ham and cheese sandwich and a delightful glass of beer.

After lunch, we drove up the hill and boarded and steam train to Pickering.

A restful ride back to Harrogate was just what the doctor ordered. One last dinner at the Harrogate Inn before we leave to Linden Hall Hotel for yh re last four days.

    October 12, 2025 in England ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

We started our day on a train headed to Linden Hall. Starting at Settle to Carlisle. We had two hours in Carlisle, so I stopped by the West Wall Brewery for a "Take it Easy", lager beer. The photo of the bathroom is just to show you the cute little tiny sink. It was about 5" X 12".

Then, on the castle for a quick photo. After walking the highlands Street, I stop by the coffee shop near the train station for a latte and a chesse toasty. We where did the train to Linden Hall.

The Linden Hall Hotel is beautiful. My dessert was hot chilie roasted pineapple with ice cream and ice cream. 😉

Lastly, a pathetic photo of kitty , watching t v waiting for me to get home.

There are not many photos today. Spent most of it on a train. However, the little snack pack was our first class train lunch, and the gin & humus was my last meal in the UK.
