The Centre is in a National Park and managed cooperatively by the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. Every day between 10 and 4 music is played by volunteers in the breezeway outside the entrance to the Museum. One of the musicians told us he knew two Australian songs, one of which was The Band played Waltzing Matilda. The music was great - mountain music with banjos, fiddles, guitars etc. As we were leaving the guy wanted to play And the Band played Waltzing Matilda for us so we stayed to listen. As he got near the end he said he wasnt sure he could finish and by the time he did he was almost in tears. It was very moving and we felt very privileged to be there.Read more
