Departing Hout Harbour

Second attempt out of Hout Bay to Cape Town was a success. Leaving the dock was a bit dicey and We almost hit my new crew’s boat but we made it out without a bump. The infamous Frenchman Jack from Ty Baloo joined me and almost convinced me to put up the spinnaker just before it gusted to 25kts 😁. We managed to tack our way through the container ship harbour of Cape Town to the entrance of the Royal Cape Yacht Club but after several attempts to get in the narrow entrance I decided to tie up to the emergency buoy. I swam the final 50m while Jack motored Samudra past a couple brand new $400k catamarans into our slip. I expect to sail from here in a little over a week.
