    Freezing in Philly!

    After another night at the theatre last night we left New York this morning - very cold and a little snow! Caught the train down to Philadelphia. I'd forgotten what a beautiful city it is- wide streets and Avenues, parks and wonderful buildings. We walked down to the Museum of Art with the huge stairs they used in the Rocky movie. Called at the library on the way back to our hotel which is a fantastic location across from City Hall and just around the corner from the amazing food hall at Reading Terminal Markets. It's freezing 1dec at the moment and will go down to -3 by tomorrow morning- just a little chilly- frozen noses on our cold faces!Read more

    Remembrance Day/Veterans Day

    What a wonderful day we're had in Philadelphia. Started with breakfast at a quirky little place call the Green Egg Cafe- great food. Then off to a day filled with museums and American history- all museums had free entry today with Veterans Day- learnt so much about the war of Independence, the American Constitution & the Civil War with visits to- the Liberty Bell, the National Constitution Centre, Benjamin Franklin's grave at Christ Church Burial Ground, historic Elfreth's Alley of homes, American Revolution Museum, Carpenter's Hall, and finished with Independence Square with tours and talks at Supreme Court Chamber, Congress Hall and Independence Hall. We finished the day after dark at the Christmas light display Franklin Square.Read more

    Goodbye Philly

    We spent our last morning in a Philadelphia at The Franklin Institute Science Museum. What a wonderful museum, we had a great time. Caught the afternoon train to Washington DC.

    Congress is in Session!

    We had an amazing day in Washington DC! Started with our tour inside the Whitehouse- East Wing, then walked down the grassed Mall with memorials and monuments, quick trip into the Smithsonian Institute and through to the Capitol building for our tour- an amazing and beautiful building. In the Capitol building where the US Government sits, we were able to sit in on both a session in The Senate and also Congress. Late afternoon over to the Library of Congress just before it was closing-we happened to be in the lift with a gentleman from the library on his way out and so he was wonderful and took Meaghan, Bek and I on our own personal little tour!- highlight of the day!!Read more

    Sweet Georgia!

    We're on the road again. Picked up our hire car in Washington and headed south through the Shenandoah National Park and stayed last night in Blacksburg, Virginia- home of the University Virginia Tech. Lovely town. Then travelled through a little of Tennessee and North Carolina arriving in Georgia late afternoon. We are staying at a beautiful old B&B - Glen-Ella Springs Inn just north of Clarksville. There's lots of hiking here as it's part of the Appalachian Trail.Read more

    Thanksgiving!

    Our first Thanksgiving! We're now in Florida staying at Sandy's house- so wonderful to spend some time with her. Preparations are now well underway - Set the table, turkey now stuffed and in the oven, so now watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV while the turkey roasts.Read more

    We've had a fantastic stay with Sandy at Boca Raton, Florida. Trips to the beach, wonderful food, a little Black Friday shopping, adventures to the wetlands & Everglades and our first Thanksgiving complete with turkey and Pumpkin Pie.Read more
