I. AFR/NA - 3. Tag, Fish River Canyon

Heute hatten wir einen sehr entspannten Morgen:
Ich ging eine größere Runde laufen und kreierte dann zusammen mit Simon unseren Sammy-Song (Liedtext s. englische Version unten).

- Grenzübergang Namibia
Nach dem Mittagessen ging es über die Grenze in mein mittlerweile 44. Land - und prompt wurden die Straßen schlechter: geteerte Wege gibt es hier kaum, größtenteils Sand- und Schotterpisten, sodass 100km hier locker mal 3-4h bedeuten können; aber dafür gibt es immer kostenlose Massagen :D

- LKW-Panne
So kam es dann auch, dass unser LKW relativ bald auch im Sand stecken blieb - aber mit vereinter Schaufel- und Muskelkraft unserer Männer war das auch kein Problem ;)

- Fish River Canyon
Nach dem Grand Canyon in den USA ist der Fish River Canyon der zweitgrößte Canyon der Welt und ist 160km lang, 27 km weit und 550m hoch - also mehr als atemberaubend. Nachdem ich meine Sonnenbrille am ersten Aussichtspunkt vergaß, gab es für mich einen sehr schönen Lauf in den Sonnenuntergang :D und auch danach haben wir alle einen traumhaften Sonnenuntergang erlebt.

Today we enjoyed a really relaxing morning:

- Border crossing Namibia
After lunch we crossed the border into Namibia, already being my 44th country now - and the road conditions immediately went pretty poor and bumpy: there are hardly any normal roads, mostly sandy and stoney ways so that it is rather normal to cover 100km within 3-4hrs; but you always get a free massage :D

- Truck breakdown
This being said, our truck got stuck in the sand pretty soon - but thanks to an awesome teamwork of our male crew members shovelling and pushing this was not a big deal ;)

- Fish River Canyon
Directly behind the Grand Canyon in the USA the Fish River Canyon is the 2nd largest canyon in the world with measurements of 160km length, 27km width and 550m height - thus more than breathtaking. Having forgotten my sunglasses on the 1st lookout I enjoyed a nice run directly along the rim during sunset :D before all of us enjoyed an incredible sunset here.Read more
