Our first visit ever to one of the German Northsea islands. We decided on Spiekeroog, because the ferry schedule was good for us, and tbh we had no great expectations at all. We just had a free day and wanted to spend it by the sea. :)

So when we arrived at Spiekeroog and walked through the little village we fell in love instantly. These pictures show why. :)Read more

After strolling through the village we headed to the beach. On our way there the island paths brought us through a beautiful dune landscape and allowed a first view to the beach in the distance.

While the weather wasn't perfect, the seascape had it's very own charme and even though it was cloudy and windy, it was still beautiful. I love the wicker beach chairs (called "Strandkorb"), which are typical for the German coastal areas. If I'll have a house and a garden someday, I'd love to get a Strandkorb for it. :)Read more

After a nice lang walk on the beach, we came to a spot where we had the beach almost to ourself. It almost felt like another world and we definitely did NOT expect something like this.

This part of the beach was our last stop, before we took the ferry back to the mainland. This was our first daytrip to the Northsea and esp. to a German island, but even though it was just for a day, we really enjoyed it and definitely will do it again. Of course it would also be nice to stay a few nights. Spiekeroog seems like a perfect place to clear your mind. :)Read more
