• Rest day, anyone?

    August 5 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

The last full day in Ahrensburg was pure wholesomeness!

After lending a hand with some construction waste removal at the house, we hopped on the bikes and headed into town with the kids for some ice cream and fresh air. Arvel, who, until now, would only speak through his mom, happily shared some of his ice cream with me when I asked in German. Such a sweetheart! And seriously, what 4 year-old orders pistachio flavoured ice cream!? 🍨 🤷🏻‍♀️

We then wandered around town and rode to a park where the kids played around endlessly, having the absolute best time! Ahrensburg is so beautifully green! 🚴🏻‍♀️

Back at the house, there was a quick colouring session before grandma and grandpa arrived to pick up the kids, leaving us grown-ups with a kid-free evening. We’d hoped for a fun night out, but every place we tried to book was fully booked or closed on Tuesdays or that week. So, Moritz ended up whipping up a delicious mushroom risotto (guess someone was secretly craving home cooking instead of dining out, and no, it wasn’t me!). But sitting around the kitchen table, sharing a meal together, without expecting to collapse from exhaustion by 9pm, was such a treat 😅

Maybe we were just saving our energy for the big adventure ahead: our trip to Amsterdam!
