    Lounge: The Deck

CX292 landed in a foggy Hong Kong and docked at Gate 9. I had a short layover, and my priority was to have a shower as I had researched and learned earlier that the lounge at my next layover (Taipei) did not have showers. Looking at the departure boards, I saw that my connecting flight was scheduled to depart from Gate 2, so I decided it would be prudent to go to closest lounge - The Deck - to shower.

Cathay Pacific has repurposed The Deck to be a temporary first class lounge while The Wing is being renovated. I didn’t spend much time there other than to shower and grab a bowl of wanton noodles from the Noodle Bar. I did note that there was table service per the norm with first class lounges. After eating, I made my way to the gate.

Service on CX488 was more in line with what I have experienced from Cathay Pacific in the past. As a OneWorld Emerald, they took my meal order first, and I was the first to be served on my aisle after the special meals. I was also addressed by name by all crew, and the Cabin Service Manager Loretta took the time to chat with me. The dim sum breakfast and the wanton noodles from the lounge really hit the spot as I was craving Chinese food after two weeks of southern European fare.
