What a gem Kojonup has turned out to be. A 3 night stay here in their RV site. $5 per night. We are always happy to pay the council to stay in these areas. A short walk to the shops.

We are camped next to the old railway. With some retired rail stock next to us. Plus, we can see the magnificent old wool wagon through our kitchen window. Some nice historic buildings in town. Beautiful gardens and the fragrance of spring blooms is in the air.Okumaya devam et

... the home of the Giant Ram and Woolorama, the biggest Ag Show in WA. Yes, it is sheep country 🐑. Even the street signs have little sheep on them.

We are camped in the show grounds for 3 nights. Power and water for $10 per night. Bargain. Plus, lush green grass to camp on.

Stinky hot days again, after a week of cold, rainy days. Went to visit the Giant Ram this morning and stroll around the lovely park. They really put a big effort into making it an inviting place. A relaxing avo. Graham watched Bathurst.

Is the home of Donald Campbell's world speed record on water. Which he achieved the same year as his land speed record. There is an excellent replica of his Bluebird, his record braking boat. Plus, there is lots of info on the man and his record braking family.

It's a pretty little town. With an easy stroll to the main street from the free RV site. Had a lazy couple of days. Graham replaced the hose between the two water tanks. Was leaking a bit when we filled up. Such a handy man 💖

Another lovely little country town. Home of the Tin Horse Highway. A fun display of tin horse made by local farmers. Missed their very popular bush races by a week.

There is also an amazing men's shed that does up old cars and tractors. They had a wonderful display.

I also think it has the largest colony of ladybugs 🐞 in Australia. We keep having to move them out of the van and car, back out to the shrubs. Was lovely to see them in such big numbers.

They also had a great free 72 hr RV site. Also, home to the waterside that used to reside on the Qld Sunshine Coast. We took the boys there when we lived in the Sunshine Coast hinterland

    16–18 Eki 2023, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Thanks, Corrigin, for another free RV site. Again, it is an easy stroll to the shops.

We enjoyed the 4.5 wildflower drive just out of town. I was hanging out the window playing spotter. Graham was driving along at a snail pace. There was a great lookout tower to enjoy the views.

There is an amazing amount of Blue Tongue Lizards in the wheat belt. We see them on the roads most days. They look different to our Eastern Blue Tongues. Graham spotted this one near the lookout tower.

Another popular tourist stop here is the dog cemetery 🐕. There were some very impressive gravesites.
We also popped up to the RSL memorial. Beautiful placed on a hill overlooking the area.

Today was a stinker hitting the high 30s. We were going to move on this morning. As we had a shady spot, we decided to stay an extra day. About 3 p.m., we walk up to town to get milk. On our return, a lovely gentleman was waiting at our van. He let us know that they were planning to evaluate the town as a bushfire that had been burning most of the day had got away and was heading towards town. We quickly packed up and headed to Narembeen. Thankfully, they stopped the fire before and damaged was done to the town.

  • Narembeen

    17–20 Eki 2023, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

Narembeen has a wonderful RV site/ van park run by the council. You can pick between paying and getting power & water. Or free camping fully off the grid. We could still use the laundry (washing machines only $3) and the kitchen. But not the showers and loos. Was a very nice camp area. Everything was so clean and well looked after.

Visited the grain centre. We are now experts on growing grain 😆. Went for a walk through the Nature Reserve. No new wildflowers.
Loved the ArtDeco hall with the magnificent draft horse statute. We both felt it was the best art we had seen in a town so far. There was also a great hawk up at the sports centre that was impressive. All in all, it's a very nice country town. With the best IGA we have had for a while.

A one night stop over at Bruce Rock. Thanks for the free RV site.

What a magnificent memorial park. We popped out just before dusk to explore it. I lovely time of day to stroll around the gardens. We lucked upon a food truck run by 2 Kiwi ladies. Had yummy burgers for dinner.

Graham raided the craft store early in the day for jam. We have learned you have to get out early as most shops are closed after lunch in the little country towns. He scored marmalade, lemon spread, honey, and a ginger slice. Was about the only store open in town. They do have a new supermarket opening Monday.

We did the Nookaminnie Nature walk just out of town this morning.
The wildflowers are getting harder to find as it gets hotter. Was pleased to find some Boomerang Trigger Plant. A new one for use. Also, a Cotton Bush.I'm not sure if we have seen this one or not. Doesn't Graham look stylish in his fly vail 😁. We also visited Toapin weir and was surprised at how full it was. Don't you just love the gate with the child proof lock, but no fence on the other side. Not to mention that the gate could easily be scaled by a child.

Had a great RV site in town. With power for only $5.50 per night. Was nice to run the AC as the days have been a bit warm. Temperature has dropped tonight. It's definitely much cooler. Only supposed to hit 22 tomorrow after days that have reached high 30s.

I'm not sure about the bull in the main street...as no cattle around here. Mainly crops and some sheep. The Lone Pine desendant is magnificent. The most interesting item in town.

Another lovely little country town. Only overnighting here in the free RV site.

Some great old buildings. My favourite was the stage coach and horse drawn vehicles. I think it's probably a while since the last stage coach stopped here.

Has a great butcher. Was nice to see it still trading. They last few towns the butcher had closed down. Made the most of it and stocked the freezer.

    @ Lake Kepwari
Lake Kepwari was formerly a mine and is now filled with water from the Collie River, making it perfect for water-based activities and lakeside camping. It is also used for water skiing and swimming. The water is crystal clear.

Was nice to camp out of a town. Our first bush camp in a while. The national parks in WA do an excellent job. The amenities are always spotless. The camp sites are wonderful. There was a very pleasant walk beside the lake to the picnic area. Which was very impressive.

We had a little visit from one of the locals this morning. These lizards are everywhere. We often have to dodge them on the roads.

We stayed here overnight. Had to go down to Augusta nearby to pick up a new water pump in the morning.

Was bitterly cold and drizzly rain all afternoon. So stayed tucked up inside. We did have an emu pop in for a visit. Not quick enough for a photo. But did I get the roo that visited on dusk. Was going to take a walk and do some photos in the morning. Graham had parked us in a tricky place and spent ages getting out. Didn't even get breakfast. On the positive side, he sprung for an excellent breakfast at Augusta when we got there.Okumaya devam et

I lovely campground on the river. Was one of the busiest places we have stayed in a long time. It is a popular spot to bring your boat. Apparently, the bream running at the moment.

It has been really cold. Didn't get above 18°. Can't believe we were having days in the very high 30s recently.

Graham replaced the water pump today. He managed to nurse the old one along until the new arrived in the post.

Back to Bridgetown for a couple of nights. How sweet are the flowers lining the main street. Open gardens this weekend here.

Got to visit my favourite craft store and pick up some yummy yarn.

We needed to recharge the battery after the fuse having an other dummy spit. Them the solar panels not putting in much power with the grey, cloudy days we had at Alexandra River. We weren't allowed to use the generator while camping there.

Thank you, Bridgetown for free camping with power 💖💖💖

It was so peaceful here on the river. Lots of open space and sunshine to keep the battery charged.

The added bonus of some magnificent big trees. The free camp area is surrounded by farms. They are baling the hay at the moment.

Went for a drive wildflower hunting. Found a couple that might be interesting when I do my research. Such nice countryside around here.
Was only about 40 minutes out of Bridgetown, so not a big trip.

  • Heartbreak Trail

    3 Kasım 2023, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We drove the Heartbrake Trail today. I'm not sure why it's called that. Was an excellent gravel road. Except where they were grading.

It's magnificent down here in the Southern Forest. When we were here a few years ago, it was wet, freezing 🥶 and not so greatThere is muchch better weather this time.

We revisited the watch tree. Graham climbed the first few rungs last time. No climbing anymore. Not surprisingly, they had to rescue men that had heartattacks while climbing in the past.

Picked up avo and kiwifruit from the local farm gates. Could have got 10 kilo of avo for $10. A bit more than we would have used 😁
