Caught up with some old friends in Bundy.

  • Morning in Bundy.

    July 4, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Bundaberg is still a very pretty little city. Situated on the Burnett river and home to a lot of sugar cane growers and of course the Bundaberg Distillery, which of course we will get to later.

  • Bert Hinkler Museum

    July 4, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    July 5, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Gin Gin, famously sign posted as Queensland’s friendliest town. Not surprised with the amount of cafes and restaurants in the Main Street.

  • The Boolboonda Tunnel

    July 5, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

This tunnel is amazing , and now home to the bent wing bats that reside in it. As you get deeper in, the squealing and stench of the bats is unbearable so you get out pretty quick.
You can actually drive through it, but I decided I wasn’t gonna get stuck in the middle with the van, so we walked. Check put the video.
Carved by hand over 130 years ago as a shortcut through the mountain for the gold trolleys.

  • End days trek at Mulgildie Pub.

    July 5, 2019 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

Cute little country pub that allows you to camp for free if you’re gonna spend something in the pub. Seafood basket for $12 sounds good to me.
Apparently the pub and everything in it is actually for sale. Could make a good little country affair out of this.Read more

  • Cania Gorge Resort Park

    July 6, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

What a beautiful spot this is. Caravan park is right at the National Park and all the Cania Gorge walks start right from here.
We stopped at Monto to gather a few days supplies and then made the 25 minute trip here to the park.
Can’t wait to get the drone out when the weather settles and post some great aerial shots.

    July 6, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

    July 7, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Took a 1k walk off the track to get to an old goldmine, the Shamrock. Good chance their was Irishmen there. LOL.
Late 1850’s and a whole town developed here over it. By the turn of the century it was all but over and the entire Cania Gorge Valley returned to a grazing homestead.
The family donated the entire station to the National Parks in 1989.

    July 10, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Well there we were 20 mins out of Eidsvold and on came the battery light, alternator failure. Managed to get into Munduberra and a mechanic before finally dying and smoke pouring out of a fried alternator.
Laid up outside the mechanic, but look in the background, no better place to be laid up.
