Ich weiß nicht, ob man sich an das ständige Hupen hier irgendwann gewöhnt. Für mich, die Städte eigentlich mag und die der viele Verkehr ansich nicht stresst, ist es eine Qual. Das ist einer der Gründe warum ich von Hanoi gar nicht so viel gesehen habe, sondern gern auf Zara's Vorschlag, zwei Tagesausflüge zu machen eingegangen bin. In Wien würde ich einfach die Kopfhörer aufsetzen und damit den Lärm übertönen, aber hier kann das echt lebensgefährlich sein. Fussgängerampeln oder Zebrastreifen scheinen die abertausenden Moped fahrenden Menschen hier in Hanoi nicht zu interessieren, und die LKW- bzw Busfahrer sowieso nicht. Die paar die sich ein wirkliches Auto leisten können scheinen sowieso zu glauben die Straße gehört ihnen.

Abgesehen davon kann man hier gut und günstig essen und Kaffee trinken. Habe auch schon Egg Coffee probiert, feigerweise in einem Hipster Coffeeshop - seltsame Konsistenz im Mund und doch recht süß, aber irgendwie schmeckt er doch sehr gut.

Achja, und Bier trinken kann man auch gut. Die lokalen normalen Biere sind zwar nicht sonderlich interessant, aber ich mag das Bia Saigon und das Ha Long Sapphire. Craft Bier ist auch in Vietnam im Kommen, aber genauso teuer wie in Europa, ich bezweifle daher dass normal arbeitende Vietnamesen sich das leisten können, ist mMn derzeit ein reines Tourismusprodukt.

I don't know if you'll get used to the constant honking here at some point. For me, who actually likes cities and who normally doesn't get stressed by the traffic, it's torture. That's one of the reasons why I haven't seen that much of Hanoi, but rather accepted Zara's suggestion of going on two day trips in a row. In Vienna I would just put on the headphones to drown out the noise, but here this could be really life-threatening. Pedestrian lights or zebra crossings don't seem to interest the thousands and thousands of moped drivers here in Hanoi, and the truck and bus drivers don't seem to care. The few who can afford an actual car seem to think the road is theirs anyway.

Apart from that, you can eat well and cheaply here and drink loads and loads coffee. I've also tried Egg Coffee, cowardly in a hipster coffee shop - strange consistency in the mouth and yet quite sweet, but somehow it tastes very good.

Oh, and you can drink beer, too. While the local regular beers aren't particularly interesting, I like the Bia Saigon and the Ha Long Sapphire. Craft beer is also on the rise in Vietnam, but just as expensive as in Europe, so I doubt that normal working Vietnamese can afford it, so in my opinion it's currently a pure tourism product.
