Escadaria Selarón
Die Treppe von Selarón ist das Lebenswerk des chilenischen Künstlers Jorge Selarón (1947–2013). Von 1989 an verzierte er die 215 Stufen der Treppe mit mehr als 2.000 kunstvollen Fliesen aus ca. 60 Ländern.
Die Treppe, die die Stadtteile Lapa und Santa Teresa miteinander verbindet, ist das weltweit größte bildhauerische Werk eines einzelnen Künstlers.

Real Gabinete Portugues de Leitura
Gegründet wurde die Biblioteca Real Gabinete Portugues de Leitura bereits im Jahr 1837 von einem Zusammenschluss von über 40 portugiesischen Einwanderern. Das Gebäude beherbergt die wohl wertvollste und auch größte Sammlung portugiesischer Literatur außerhalb des Mutterlandes Portugal. Insgesamt sind in der Bibliothek rund 350.000 Werke untergebracht.
Unter den Büchern befinden sich auch seltene und außergewöhnlich kostbare Exemplare, die für die wissenschaftliche Forschung von großem Interesse sind.

Escadaria Selarón
The Selarón Staircase is the life work of the Chilean artist Jorge Selarón (1947-2013). From 1989 on he decorated the 215 steps of the staircase with more than 2,000 artistic tiles from around 60 countries.
The staircase that connects the districts of Lapa and Santa Teresa is the world's largest sculptural work by a single artist.

Real Gabinete Portugues de Leitura
The library was founded in 1837 by a group of over 40 Portuguese immigrants. The building houses what is probably the most valuable and largest collection of Portuguese literature outside of the mother country of Portugal. A total of around 350,000 works are housed here.
Among the books there are also rare and extraordinarily valuable specimens, which are of great interest for scientific research.Read more
