Trip to Uyuni, Laguna Blanca

Eine Brasilianerin hatte mir die Uyuni Wüste ans Herz gelegt. Da die Touren dorthin von San Pedro de Atacama aus starten, kam die mit aufs Programm. Frühmorgens ging es los, nur eine Stunde Fahrt bis zur chilenisch-bolivianischen Grenze auf 4,600m. Wartezeiten im Kalten gibt’s da auch genügend, ein Vorgeschmack auf die Temperaturen der nächsten Tage. Es sollte Dauerfrisch werden. Ich war so unendlich froh, dass ich auf Tipps gehört hatte und mir noch um heisse 13 Euro in Atacama eine Thermoleggings, Mütze, Handschuhe und warme Beinstulpen gekauft hatte. Die Immigrationsgebäude in Bolivien waren schon beeindruckend! 😉 In Bolivien sattelten wir dann auf einen 4x4 Jeep um mit heimischen Fahrer, Filipe. Wahnsinn, wie der die ganzen Wege und Sandpisten auswendig kannte, denn ein Schild habe ich in den 4 Tagen nicht ein einziges gesehen. Das bolivianische Geld ist genauso hübsch wie das der Länder bisher. Unser erster Stop war die Weisse Lagune. Wenig überraschend bei den Temperaturen teils zugefroren, was unsere Israelis im Auto in helle Aufregung versetzte, da sie noch nie einen zugefrorenen See gesehen hatten. Ich hingegen hatte noch nie einen tiefgefrorenen Flamingo gesehen.

A Brazilian girl had recommended the Uyuni desert to me. Since the tours there start from San Pedro de Atacama, I included in my programme. The tour started early in the morning, it was only one hour's drive to the Chilean-Bolivian border at 4,600m altitude. There were enough waiting times in the cold, a foretaste of the temperatures of the next few days. It should remain fresh all the time. I was so incredibly happy that I had listened to advices and had bought thermal leggings, a warm hat, gloves and leg warmers for 13 euros in Atacama. The immigration buildings in Bolivia were impressive! 😉 On Bolivian territory we then switched to a 4x4 jeep with a local driver, Filipe. It was crazy how he knew all the paths and sand tracks by heart, because I didn't see a single sign in the 4 days. The Bolivian money is just as pretty as the countries so far. Our first stop was the White Lagoon. Unsurprisingly with the temperatures partly frozen which caused our Israelis in the car to get excited as they had never seen a frozen lake.
