Das Nationalmuseum von Kambodscha beherbergt eine der weltweit größten Sammlungen von Khmer-Kulturschätzen, darunter Skulpturen, Keramik und ethnografische Objekte aus der prähistorischen, vorangkorischen, angkorischen und postangkorischen Zeit. Zu den Höhepunkten zählen die achtarmige Statue von Vishnu aus dem 6. oder 7. Jahrhundert oder die Statue von Shiva (ca. 877–866). Ehrlich gesagt war ich überrascht, solche Kunst aus Jahrhunderten zu sehen, als (zumindest in meiner Erinnerung) europäische Künstler noch darum kämpften, die richtigen Perspektiven, Körperproportionen und Gesichtsausdrücke zu finden. The National Museum of Cambodia houses one of the world's greatest collections of Khmer cultural material including sculptures, ceramics and ethnographic objects from the prehistoric, pre-Angkorian, Angkorian and post-Angkorian periods. Honestly I was surprised to see art like this from centuries when (at least in my memory) European artists were still struggling to find right perspectives, body proportions and face expressions.
