Today was supposed to be a lot of sail trimming to get the most out of little wind, and it started exactly like that. Next to no sea, enough wind to get to 4 knots of close-hauled for a while, while I could see and hear the thunder rolling on the coast far from me.
At some point the wind died down, but as it did so the sea increased. The sails kept sweeping from side to side under the combined effect of their weight and the roll of the boat induced by the sea. After a bit of that, I didn't like to keep waiting for some hypothetical wind. Another look at the forecast indicated that the place I was originally aiming for was now predicted to be in the middle of the thunder all night long. So I decided to put down the sail and motor my way to the closest buoy. Sadly, upon arriving there, I found out there was only one buoy there, and it was already taken. Not liking the option of doing 2h more on the engine, I opted to use the bow anchor. I played some harmonica to pass the time while I was checking the GPS to see if the anchor was holding or dragging. Once I felt relatively confident that it was holding, took a really quick dip to relax a bit. And now, I'll have an early dinner and get up a few times during the night to make sure all is OK. I also have set some geolocation alarms that will let me know if the boat moves from her current position.

Aujourd'hui devait être une journée de minutieux réglages des voiles pour essayer de tirer le maximum d'un vent faible et elle a démarré comme ça. Une mer très calme, juste assez de vent pour faire quatre nœuds au près durant un bon moment alors que je pouvais voir et entendre l'orage au loin, le long de la côte.
Mais à un moment, le peu de vent qu'il y avait à commencer à diminuer un peu plus juste qu'à disparaître entièrement pendant que la mer, elle, se formait. Je me suis retrouvé complètement éventé avec Elvira et les voiles qui se balançaient d'un côté à l'autre… Après avoir regardé les dernières prévisions pour ma position et pour la bouée que je visais, j'ai vu qu'elle allait se trouver sous l'orage toute la nuit et que le vent n'allait pas revenir de suite… Du coup, j'ai mis le moteur, affalé les voiles et mis le cap sur une autre bouée, plus proche et sur une île qui devrait être épargné par l'orage. Malheureusement, cet endroit n'avait qu'une seule bouée et elle était occupée. Du coup, j'ai cherché et trouvé un endroit un peu plus loin le long de l'île où j'ai pu jeter l'ancre. Après avoir joué un peu d'harmonica pour éviter de trop stresser à propos de l'ancre… J'ai pu constater que l'ancre avait l'air de tenir. Je vais tout de même manger tôt et tâcher de me lever une ou deux fois dans la nuit pour vérifier que tout va bien. J'ai aussi mis des alertes géolocalisées qui vont me prévenir si le bateau s'éloigne de son ancrage.Baca selengkapnya
