I'm shippin'up to Luleå-ååå 🎶

Today, there were many things. The forecast announced 5bft roughly going where I wanted to go and light rain from 11 to 16. And it pretty much started as planned, some nice exhilarating long broad reach surf going up to 7–8 knots and feeling the waves' pressure on the rudder with the occasional shower of rain. At some point, the GPS was predicting I would reach my target by 16.00, perfect time for tea and biscuits. But about around 1pm, the wind suddenly disappeared and left me drifting between an island on one side and shallows on the other side. I was starting to wonder if I should start the engine to just go a bit further, scratched the backstays and that answered the wind picked up just enough that I could get 2 knots and stirring. It picked up a bit more, and it started raining more, spoiling the view of the surroundings, so I put the pilot on and did some crochet to spend the time (on deck obviously, blessed be the spray hood 🙏).
After 2 hours of that treatment the sky slowly cleared up, the wind picked up (but not as strongly as predicted) and it was back to cruising broad reach, and surfing on the occasional wave.
When I arrived to my destination, I almost took the easy option to reach for a Swedish cruising club buoy. But, there was a nice pontoon with only 2 boats on it and I thought it was the prefect occasion to try mooring “à-la-swedish”. I dropped the stern anchor with about 20m of this strange flat rope that everyone uses here (turns out I was too far, so I had to quickly add more). When I had Elivra's bow about 1m away from the pontoon, made it all fast and clean, doubled checked that the anchor was holding and turned off the engine. The good thing is that if I f-ed up the anchoring, the boat will only sway onto the pontoon, and that there are no other boats Elvira could smash into if that happened.
Now time for a swim and then to plan tomorrow!

Aujourd'hui était bien rempli ! La météo annonçait 5 Beaufort toute la journée allant dans ma direction et de la pluie de 11 h à 16 h. Ça à plus ou moins démarré comme ça, avec des longs bords de grand largue en surfant jusqu'à 7-8 nœuds et la barre/safran exerçant une bonne pression à chaque vague qui passait. De la pluie par-ci par-là, mais ça allait tellement vite que le GPS indiquait que je serais rendu à destination dès 4 h, prêt pour le goûter !
Puis, vers 1 h de l'après-midi, le vent a baissé soudainement et je me suis retrouvé dans la pétole entre une île d'un côté et des hauts-fonds de l'autre… Après avoir essayé de souffler dans les voiles pendant un moment, je me demandais si je n'allais pas lancer le moteur pour aller un peu plus loin et sortir d'entre ces deux obstacles. Mais le vent a finalement repris juste assez pour que je puisse faire deux nœuds et retrouver la possibilité de diriger. Progressivement, le vent est monté assez pour faire 4-5 nœuds, mais a amené avec lui des averses qui faisaient que je ne pouvais pas profiter du paysage. Du coup, j'ai mis l'auto pilote et j'ai fait un peu de crochet tout en regardant autour, à l'abri du sprayhood.
Après deux heures d'averse, le temps s'est éclairci et le vent a forci un peu (mais toujours en deçà des prévisions) et j'étais de nouveau au grand largue à surfer de temps en temps.
Quand je suis arrivé à destination, j'allais pour me mettre à une des bouées du club de croisière suédois quand j'ai vu un beau ponton avec juste deux occupants. Plein de place pour essayer de prendre un mouillage à la suédoise (jeter l'ancre à l'arrière et s'amarrer à l'avant) et pour me rater dans de bonnes conditions au cas où. J'ai jeté l'ancre un peu tôt avec 20 mettre de rubans, et j'ai pu constater que l'ancre avait bien prise, car je n'avançais plus et j'étais encore à quelques mètres de la jetée. Après avoir rallongé le ruban déroulé, j'ai pu m'amarrer correctement à l'avant et même si mon ancre dérape, le bateau ne devrait pas pouvoir finir sur un voisin puisqu'ils sont tous assez loin !
