I'm finally reaching the Swedish High Coast (Högakusten), sadly it doesn't translate that well in pictures (but I am enjoying the landscapes, sorry, you can join next time).
The High Coast is so called because the ground there rose some 300m since the last glaciation, creating landscapes of cliffs.
What was it for the wiki-break, onto the sailing.
The day started late (sails up at 11) and with the rest of yesterday's wind and sea. So much so that I had to take in the reef I'd let go while in Härnösand's inlet. It wasn't quite as windy as yesterday, but the current was still pretty strong and made my successive tacks look too flat for my liking… Around 15:00, I was able to shake off the reef again as the wind was still decreasing. Alas, the current didn't really and even though by 17:00 the sea was quite calm it was god-damn impossible to make good gains going upwind.
So instead of going to Ulvön as I intended, I'm now planning to stop in Bönhamn.
I've already sailed 30 nm of zigzagging, had I been able to go straight, that would have taken me to Ulvön already 🤣

J'ai enfin atteint la haute côte de Suède (Högakusten), malheureusement ça ne rend pas très bien en photo (je profite des paysages cela dit et pas de bol, il faut venir en bateau la prochaine fois).
La Haute Côte s'appelle ainsi parce que le sol s'est élevé de près de 300 m depuis la fin de la dernière ère glaciaire, créant des falaises un peu partout.
Voilà pour le coin Wikipédia, maintenant la voile !
J'ai commencé la journée tard et sous le crachin (voiles hissées à 11 h) dans les restes de mer et de vent d'hier. À la sortie du port, j'ai enlevé le ris d'hier, car le vent semblait ok, mais une fois dans le grand chenal vers la mer, j'ai dû le reprendre. Bien que le vent et la mer étaient notablement plus calmes qu'hier, le courant était toujours très fort et m'a fait tirer des bords carrés… Vers 15 h, le vent avait suffisamment baissé pour pouvoir enlever le ris. Le courant lui n'a pas vraiment diminué ou en tout cas pas assez pour faire de jolis bords de près et ce même quand la mer était presque plate (vers 17 h).
Du coup, j'abandonne mon idée d'aller jusqu'à Ulvön aujourd'hui et je vais me replier sur Bönhamn (plus proche).
J'ai déjà fait 30 miles nautiques de zigzag, si j'avais pu faire cette distance sans ces détours, je serais déjà rendu à Ulvön !Read more
