Nach unserem Museumsbesuch machten wir eine Bootstour 🛳️ zur Liberty- & Ellis Island, Melanie wurde nicht Seekrank. 🥳 Liberty Island ist eine kleine unbewohnte Insel, auf welcher die Freiheitsstatue 🗽 steht & ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt.

Infos aus dem Museum:
- Craftsmen pounded each copper piece of the Staute until it was just 2.38mm thick. 😳
The monumental task of assembling the Statue was completed first in Paris. The pieces were then disassembled and shipped to New York.
- The first piece of the Statue to be reconstructed was Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel's iron framework. The rest of the Statue's elements followed without the use of scaffolding, all construction materials were hoisted up by steam-powered cranes and derricks.Read more
