Lincoln Memorial / World War II Memorial

Am D-Day, 6. Juni besuchten wir das World War II Memorial. Zu ehren des 80 Jahrestages fand eine Zeremonie statt. Der Preis des Friedens war Hoch!* 😢

Danach ging es weiter zum Lincoln Memorial, welches Abraham Lincoln, den 16. Präsidenten der USA ehrt. Es wurde 1922 erbaut und enthält eine grosse Statue Lincolns, umgeben von Säulen, die an einen griechischen Tempel erinnern. Aktuell finden umfassende Renovierungsarbeiten statt, welche hoffentlich 2026 zu ehren des 250. Jahrestages der Unabhängigkeitserklärung.**
